UPDATE: I have been lax on keeping this website up to date--will try to do better in the future. The all-gospel bluegrass show in June was a huge success, and we are planning another one for December 3. Judy is back with us after a short leave of absence; Rodney Blevins will be still be playing dobro when he is available; and Jack Fetters will be on the banjo. Also, we suspended the jam for a couple of months due to lack of support, but due to many requests, we are again having the acoustic jam as long as participation warrants. The official jam begins at 5 p.m., but musicians are welcome to come anytime after 4 and jam while we are setting up.
Jack Fetters, banjo; Judy Gannon, fiddle and mandolin; ; Carole Farrar, upright bass; and Ab Farrar, guitar
Nighthawk Express Bluegrass band was formed in the fall of 2009 with Ab and Carole Farrar, Springfield, MO; George North, Republic, MO; and Rodney Blevins, Marionville, MO. Our first performance was at the Flat Creek Bluegrass monthly show in November 2009. We appreciate Flat Creek Bluegrass and Dallas Hicks for giving local bands a venue and helping new bands to get started. Early in 2010, Judy Gannon from Bois D' Arc was a great addition to our band. We had an opportunity to rent the Firefighter's Union Hall on North Clifton just South of Kearney in Springfield for jams and shows, and decided to take the leap and sponsor our own shows the first Saturday of each month starting in January 2010. This proved to be a good decision, and we have had the opportunity to meet many special people through the bands we have booked for the show and the great audiences who have attended.
Nighthawk Express Bluegrass will be happy fo play for almost any event--and churches, we would love to come be a part of your service.
